While our lives are gradually coming back to “normal “, there is less and less time. We seem to speed up more and more. What this special time is teaching us?

If time is the space between memories, I wonder what would happen if each night we would forget everything. Every morning we would wake up to a new world. I bet we would feel like babies, excited, totally present, aware, and in a state of wonder.

There would be no time, no past. There would be no tomorrow as tomorrow is only imagination based on the memories from the past. There would be no fear, no anger, no guilt, no shame. As they are only memories of the pain from the past. We would live the joy of NOW. We would be at peace and we would love more.

Upon the awakening, we may ask ourselves I am in my boy or my body is inside of my consciousness?

Am I in the world or the world is inside of me?

What if the path of remembering who we are is practicing forgetting? Do we need to practice amnesia?

Or maybe the path of remembering who we are is about practicing forgiving, accepting, and letting go?

Forgiving is forgetting to judge and criticize yourself first and those are around you. Forgiving is forgetting the pains of separation, mistakes, and failures.

Do we need a dose of amnesia or we can remember to forgive and forget anything that doesn’t serve Truth, Love, Joy, and Peace?

I hope, my reader to help you find your path to being in the NOW.

Mental chatter works like white noise. You are not aware of it but it is constantly running old thought patterns infused with anxiety, fears, worries, doubts, frustration and anger…

Like white noise, that masks the rest of the sounds around us, mental chatter blocks us from experiencing life at it’s fullest. It becomes a barrier for us to experience life just the way it is. It runs survivor programs to protect us from life, perceived as dangerous.

Mental chatter is unnoticeable once you get use to it. But it consumes a lot of mental energy to sustain itself. It frightens you ] with a fear of WHAT IF… and than it tries to resolve the fear. It sustains a never-ending cycle of negative thinking in an effort to prepare you for the future and the vicious cycle continues generating more of the fight and fly response.

You can’t drive your car forward and backward at the same time. You can’t act smart in the fight or flight. We either survive or thrive. We either move forward or backward.

There are a few steps you can take to switch from fight or fly to rest and digest, from your sympathetic to parasympathetic system, from surviving to succeeding in life.

It may take 15 min. of daily practice to rewire the old reactions. You can practice these four steps before bed time or first thing in the morning:

Step 1. Slow down to witness your breath. Focus on your breathing for a few minutes;

Step 2. Allow your thoughts as they come. Observe your thoughts without judgement for a few minutes;

Step 3. Become aware of how you feel for a few minutes. Don’t try to change the way you feel. Just observe and accept to the best of your ability.

Step 4. You will find yourself sinking into the pockets of NO THOUGHT experiences. At first, they may only last for a few moments. As you continue your practice, the gaps between the thoughts will be wider and the presence of peace within you too.

Information consumes our attention. Attention requires energy. Therefore a wealth of information creates a poverty of attention and lack of energy. Your attention is valuable. Don’t waste it.

2. Control your focus
Do you want to be in control of your emotions? Take control of what you are focusing on. Focus on what IS GOOD/RIGHT in your life.

Reach out, connect to your family and your friends. Share love and receive love.

Adopt a little friend, a cat, or a dog. You will save it and it will save you.

3. Your last line of defense
Why does nobody talk about it? Stress is the number one trigger to lower your Immune response. The Immune System is the last and the most important line of defense.

Use your time to practice yoga, meditation, Tai Chi, and Chi Kung…

Avoid drinking alcohol, eating processed foods, adulterated fats, and refined sugars

Eat good food. Focus on the nutritional aspect of it

Go to bed earlier

Be outside

Get more sunlight and fresh air

4. Be good to yourself

Accept what you can’t change and take control of what you CAN CONTROL NOW.

Be kind to yourself. Give yourself some time just to BE.

Practice self- acceptance.

Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love. – Lau Tzu

Love creates everything else

As we are moving into 2020I wanted to share with you what I have learned this year. Perhaps it will make sense to you too:

Family is KEY. Taking care of my mom while she was not well for 8 month has taught me a lot about my life’s priorities.

Kindness opens the doors without knocking them. The kinder I am – the more kindness flows into my life.

Forgiving relieves us from the tremendous stress. Forgiving my dad after 15 years of him not been present in my life had a profound emotional healing effect on me. Who do you choose to forgive?

Choosing to Surrender. It’s impossible to control the world. Surrender is not about giving up. It is about letting go and letting the best part of you to come forth. Surrender is like falling asleep or falling in love. You can’t’ control the fall. You can only surrender yourself into it only to find that YOU ARE IN CONTROL.

Feed my soul is as important as to feed my stomach. Taking care my soul is not a chore. It is my privilege. Practice of Meditation, Tai Chi, and Mantras… are my ways of feeding the soul. What are yours?

All my life I have made assumptions. I lived with them and I lost some good people in my life because of them. I choose to stop making assumptions. I choose to be open to trust and to love and to live fully.

It’s ok to take a break from social media, emails, and internet and read a book. I give myself permission to go on a media diet from time to time.

Based on the books of Steven Kotler “The Rise of Superman”

Have you thought about how top performers, elite athletes, and extreme sports players are constantly pushing their records?

What do they have to constantly raise the bar and succeed? What do they know that we can learn?

What if there is a way to learn how to be the best you and raise the bar every day of your life?

What if we too can automate the peak performance to not only commit once a year but to succeed every day? And make it into a habit.

How would that feel like to lead a life of full potential?

You know that we are hard-wired to take the path of least resistance. We are hard-wired to go for short term pleasure.

The old mentality has programmed us to live a mediocre life. We have been programmed to be afraid of failure only to realise that we have been losing our chances to be the champions in our lives not only once a year but every day of our life.

If we want to succeed. If we want to have a meaningful life, we need to learn how to hack the state of peak performance and how to automate it.

Neuro-biologists and neuro-scientists call this state a Flow. This state is easily observed in elite sports athletes…they call it being in the ZONE.

It is also the exact same state that musicians, artists, poets, and business executives report while performing their skills at an optimal level.

It has been discovered by observing the brain activity of practicing Buddhist monks and high-performance extreme athletes that some parts of the brain lessen in activity.

The brain of the monk during the meditation and the brain of the athlete at the peak state looks very much same.

The prefrontal cortex of the brain temporarily lessens its activity. And in that moment… everything effortlessly flows. That is the peak performance state in which the athlete makes a new world record.

The revolutionary news is in order to succeed in life it is not enough just to push yourself physically.

We need to practice being in the flow. The more we practice being in flow, the greater our ability to trigger flow on command.

Daily practice of meditation/self-hypnosis trains your mind to be in the flow.

That Flow state takes your body to the peak performance, leaving behind the doubts about the New Year resolutions. Because in the flow state, the Inner Critic disappears. Doubts and fears disappears… and you become ONE with the task.

When you combine the mental practice of being in the flow and physical practice of moving your body, it creates the most incredible results.

Resolve the New Year Resolutions with the new knowledge and the new power. May the FLOW be with you in 2020!

1. Never say never
Refrain from saying “I will never eat this cake again. I will never smoke again, I will never eat after 7:00 pm again…”Don’t commit to be perfect. Only commit to do your best and to be honest with yourself.

2. IM- Possible
Make BIG dreams possible by tackling enough of Small impossible goals on a daily basis.

3. Be patient with yourself
Give yourself some time to build a new habit. One of the problems with New Year’s resolutions is time frame. Cancel the “I want everything NOW” mind set. Most of the resolutions failed because you haven’t given them time to work.

4. Be in the Flow state
Extreme athletes are better at entering the flow state, i.e., “the zone” in which we achieve optimal performance and feel our best. What brings and keeps you in the flow? Yoga, gym, walks, meditation, music, tai chi, skating, skiing. Find your own flow and practice being in it daily.

5. Find your True Motivations
Make a list of EMOTIONAL reasons why you want to achieve your goal. Ask yourself “why do I want to succeed?” Read them to yourself often.

6. Compete with yourself and win
Only compare yourself with yourself. Always compete with yourself and do your best to win.

7. Reward yourself
Praise yourself every time you make an IM-possible possible. The reward response neuro- chemicals (dopamine, endorphins, serotonin, norepinephrine, anandamide) are very powerful and addictive in a good way.

The more reward neuro-chemicals show up during the time of learning a new habit, the faster you will master the habit.

8. “Practice being your best when you are at your worst”
Commit to never give up and just keep moving forward no matter what.

1. Use both models of learning: Focused and Relaxed

To bring your Mind into the Resting State use Self-Hypnosis, yoga, meditation, breathing, walking, and listening to music… Experiment and find your own way.

2. For easy recall create Brain Links

Talk to yourself to explain yourself key ideas, using funny stories, metaphors and humorous images. Short term memory plus emotion equals long term memory.

3. Use Pomodoro Technique

Intensely focus for 25 min. than relax a bit by doing something that you really enjoy. Use a Pomodero Timer to build a greater ability to focus.

4. Reward yourself and celebrate your success

Reward yourself for the good work that you have done with a few minutes of web surfing, a cup of your favourite tea, stretching…Rewarding creates positive mind associations with studying.

5. Test yourself

Test yourself or let others test you. Testing strengthens recall.

6. “Eat your Frogs First”

Start with the most difficult task first. Ease yourself into studying by starting with the most difficult part.

7. Cleanup the confusion

Cleanup the points of confusion as much as possible. Don’t collect them.

The Genius within you is waiting. Learn to succeed. Remember, the right practice makes YOU permanently successful.

Surprise! This is how both of them were getting their new ideas and insights.

When Salvador Dali would get so relaxed that his keys dropped to the floor, it would wake him up. He would relax again to drop the key again, wake up … until he reached just the right state of relaxation known as Trance state. The state in between being asleep and being awake. Thomas Edison used the same technique to bring his brain into just the right state to come up with new ideas.

Both of them separately discovered and practiced this natural way to bring the brain into what scientists now call the Resting State of the Mind.

Resting State is the State of genius. When your mind is in the Resting State, it comes up with genius ideas, creates solutions and solves problems.

I don’t know how Dali and Edison figured out what our scientists only just discovered. Only you and I can too use this knowledge to our advantage.

Neuroscientists have discovered that we learn in two ways:

One way to learn called Focused State. This is how we have been trained to study. It is when you concentrate and focus on something that you want to learn.

In order to get a new pattern of thinking when you are learning something totally new, you need to see a bigger picture. You need to have a broader perspective.

That happens when your mind is in the Resting State.

Have you ever got a great idea while in the shower or before falling asleep?

Here is the greatest secret to learn more with less frustration:

Your mind needs to be able to go back and forth between Focused and Resting State. This ability to go back and forth is the genius that helped Dali and Edison create new ideas. Here are some more tips to unleash your Genius.

While I was writing a blog on Motivation, I have remembered a conversation with a client a few months ago. Mary was a cancer survivor. When we met, she felt overwhelmed by too many commitments to her own health and wellbeing that she has made. She was looking for a simple, pressure-free solution to care for herself without overcommitting.
Adopting the Kaizen Principle has helped Mary. I have a feeling you may benefit from it too.

Kaizen Principle

Kaizen, pronounced as “k-eye-zin” came from Japan. It originated from the Japanese philosophy of work. It literally means continuous improvement.

In a Kaizen environment, when an employee errs in his job, it is not seen as an occasion to blame, but as a chance to find out what went wrong. Kaizen focuses on incremental improvements rather than permanent solutions. The focus on small improvements makes it easier to implement and impossible to fail. Employees find it easy to adjust to the changes. The resistance to change is MINIMAL. This is how the Japanese beat the competition.

Here is how we can implement the Kaizen way of living:

1. Downgrade your goal to the ridiculous

Instead of committing to two hours of working out, do 5 sit-ups a day. Instead of mediating for an hour, commit to meditating for only 5 min, every day…

2. Celebrate your success

Every success counts. Feel good about yourself. You have made a decision and you took an
action upon it.

3. Repeat it

In the absence of resistance, consistency is easy. Enjoy being consistent.

There are three conditions to create any habit: repetition, positive emotion and association.
It is easy to create positive habits with Kaizen Principle.
