We spend approximately third of our lives sleeping. The quality of our sleep is the quality of our life. You know if you have insomnia or sleep disorder. Falling asleep at night becomes just “one of those things” we feel anxious about during the day. If the last night’s sleep was unrestful, you feel twice as worried about the following night. Being stressed about having insomnia creates insomnia.

My clients tried everything before they came to see me:

  • Trying to fall asleep only ensures that you remain awake. Because the more you try to put yourself asleep, the less chances you have to actually fall asleep.
  • Alcohol can put you to sleep: This may be true, but as soon as it wears off, you abruptly awaken and it will be harder than ever to fall asleep.
  • Sleeping pills help to fall asleep but they suppress the dream phase of sleep (REM sleep). This is why you feel more tired when you wake up than before going to sleep. With time you need more and more medication due to developed tolerance.
  • Going to bed 30 min. earlier and keeping a journal next to your bed will help as well

All above are valid, “common” ways to help you fall asleep, however only when you train your brain how to release, relax and fall asleep, how to use subconscious triggers to let go of worry and anxiety and stay asleep once you are asleep, you will look forward to going to bed every night for the rest of your life.

You can not MAKE yourself go to sleep, but you can train your mind to FALL asleep.
